What LEDs does it use? How many? What power?
Pico Max uses 4 horticultural LEDs from OSRAM of 3 varying wavelengths (white, red, and blue). This provides complete autonomy from the sun. Pico Max can be powered by any USB-C input, with any charger output from 5V 1A and above.

How big can the plants in Pico Max get?
The space between Pico Max’s lower half and the grow light module at its fully extended height is 31cm or 12’’. So Pico Max can support anything under a foot (12”). This is comparable to seed-pod products in the market and can support most plants mentioned above at their full height.

How does Pico Max give the plants the right amount of water?
Self-watering works with capillary action and maintains an equilibrium of water saturation. Once plant roots absorb water, the capillary wick transmits the same amount of water upwards from the water reservoir below. This reduces guesswork and stress for the user and prevents underwatering or overwatering.

What is Pico Max made of?
Pico Max is made of food-safe BPA-free ABS and PC materials. The telescopic arm is extruded aluminum, while the heat-sink on the top is die-casted aluminum alloy. The electronics and PCB are made of RoHS-certified components.

How long does it take to grow fresh herbs?
Pico Max lets plants grow 2-3x faster as compared to growing in a pot. This is thanks to self-watering, root oxygenation, and abundant lighting.

Do the lights have to be plugged in, or just charged every once in a while?
Pico Max does need to be plugged in for the grow lights to work. In order to get the power needed for Pico’s “sunlight” to work all day, a USB-C cable is included. Though Pico Max does come with its own power supply.

Does Pico Max have battery? What type of battery is used in Pico Max?
Pico Max has a 10,000mAh Li-Po battery pack, which can power it through 4 days and can be charged overnight with a phone charger.

How does the dimming system work?
Pico Max has infrared proximity sensors on the LED unit that dim the LED lights when the plants grow too close to prevent leaf burn and to reduce overall light output. This also alerts the user/grower to either raise the LED unit on the telescopic upright OR prune or harvest the leaves at the top of the canopy.

Will the lights burn my plants?
The lights will not burn the plant as the sensors on the LED unit dim the LED lights to reduce the light output. This happens to be an industry-first (first ever) safety feature implemented to reduce leaf burn and fatigue in plants. We have tuned the Infrared Transmitter and Receiver pair to activate the dimming at 1.5 inches from the light source.

Is there a built-in timer? How does it work?
The Pico Max has a built-in timer, which was one of the main changes. With an RTC (Real Time Clock) chipset powered by a button cell, it has a clock of its own. The operation is simple - using the single button switch in the bottom, punch in your local time in hours on a 24h clock, that’s all. The timer wakes up the grow lights at 0800h (8 am) and shuts it off at 2000h (8 pm) every day.

What is Daisy-Chaining?
Daisy-chaining is a fancy name for connecting multiple units of anything in a sequence, like a chain of daisies. In this context, it means one connection from a power outlet could power up multiple Picos or Pico Max or a mix of both, minimizing clutter and chords.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
